STRENGTHENING CIVIL SOCIETY ACROSS BORDERS TO DEVELOP DEMOCRACY PROJECT STARTS IN UKRAINE

International partner project «Strengthening civil society across borders to develop democracy» starts in Ukraine. The Project is implemented by the Euclid Network (Great Britain) in partnership with CCC Creative Center (Ukraine), GURT Resource Center, Contact Center (Moldova), World Window (Moldova), CReDo (Moldova), FDSC (Romania), and European Exchange (Germany) under financial support of the United Nations Democracy Fund.

The objective of the Project is to strengthen capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) of Ukraine and Moldova to create and to support their own networks, to influence the decision-making process by public authorities effectively, and to enhance the development of existing mechanisms of interaction between state and civil society.

In Ukraine Project implementation will be performed by CCC Creative Center and GURT Resource Center. Project activity will embrace the entire territory of Moldova as well as Luhansk, Kherson, Poltava and Sumy Oblasts of Ukraine.

The Project expects:

• inspiration of dialog between civil society and power through round tables organization at regional and international levels,
• set of regional working groups intended to promote principles of transparency and accountability of power and to inform local CSOs about existing instruments of influencing political decision-decision making;
• conducting master-classes for CSO leaders intended to develop their skills of advocacy work and networking;
• performing study visit of CSO representatives and representatives of public authorities to Great Britain and Belgium.

In order to summarize and to spread the results of the Project there will be a conference conducted in Kyiv. In addition, publication of report by the results of the Projects is planned.
