Healthy Child – Healthy Country!

Objective: To increase healthy life-style knowledge and habits of primary school pupils by means of interactive study methods elaboration and introduction.

Project Stages:

• Conducting the training Interactive methods of healthy nutrition and healthy life-style studyfor Trostyanets school #1 and Trostyanets school #2, which are directly involved in the Project;
• Elaborating the healthy nutrition and healthy life-style study program by Trostyanets school teachers with the help of the Central hospital doctors and sanitary epidemiology station;
• Providing work of Summer school centres upon the two Trostyanets schools that participate in the Project. At Summer centres not only will primary pupils consume healthy food (juices, fruit), but they will also get healthy nutrition and healthy life-style knowledge in a fascinating way.  
• Equipping both Trostyanets schools with healthy nutrition and healthy life-style rooms. There will be a room for dish preparation master class, equipped with the newest tools, and a room for interactive (training) classes;
• Introducing a special program into each of the two schools. The program will provide such components as: healthy nutrition studies for the 3rd -4th grades pupils; national cuisine dishes master classes; vitamin beverages labs; instructive trainings for parents and teachers; national cuisine festivities; sports events; information bulletin publishing about valuable recommendations of rational nutrition etc.;
• Publishing a methodical handbook that will contain generalized experience of the Project.

September-October

• On the 1st of September within the “first-bell” celebration in the Trostyanets specialized school No1 and the Trostyanets specialized school No2, Sumy Oblast, there was a high opening of the Rooms for healthy nutrition and healthy way of life studies.

June-August

• In the 1st and 2nd schools special rooms were equipped for healthy nutrition and healthy way of life studies. The rooms consist of two parts, one intended for theoretical studies and the second containing everything needed for master-classes and cooking dishes of healthy cuisine.
• On the 1-17th of June, 2009 there were celebrations of family holidays, sports games, competitions, and walking tours during the work of summer camps.

• The Wonder-drinks for Health Center was opened on the basis of the 1st school; as well as Vitamin Drink Laboratory on the basis of the 2nd school. As a result of their activity the pupils of these two schools were provided with juices and fruits.;

• On the 1st of June, 2009 it was announced about the competition for the best family receipt of the Ukrainian national cuisine dish;

May-April

• The equipment (including household equipment and sports devices) was bought and distributed to the schools participating in the Project for organization and performance of summer camps;
• On the 7-9th of April there was a training conducted in Kyiv for the teachers of the schools participating in the Project as well as doctors of the Trostyanets town, under the title “Interactive Methods of Healthy Nutrition and Healthy Way of Life Study”;
• On the 15-16th of April in the 1st and 2nd schools there was a Project Presentation conducted for the community of Trostyanets.
