Training Support/Assistance to Local and Regional Civil Society Organizations

Budget: 146 508 UAH
Objective: To strengthen the capacity of the local civil society organizations leaders for influencing the local decision-making process by delivering relevant public diplomacy knowledge and skills in training study/
Project Stages:
- Selecting a group of NGOs that need knowledge and skills in public diplomacy, and public interests lobbying; studying their technical needs (consulting, trainings, seminars, experience exchange etc.);
- Selecting NGOs representatives to participate inthe training program on a competitive basis;
- Trainingprogramfor NGOs representatives selected;
- Providing consulting support for CSOs in relevant changes introduction on the basis of knowledge acquired during trainings, between trainings and after they are over;
- Evaluating how the participants have mastered the information and working out a plan of further actions on the basis of acquired information;
- Probating selected CSOs representatives in Kyiv in order to expand and to secure the skills acquired during trainings.

June-July
- The second level of training program evaluation was conducted. During this evaluation it was analyzed how far the participants are able to apply the acquired knowledge and information in their practical activities;
- During June 17-20, 2009 seven CSO activists that took part in the training program have attended internship in Kyiv. Especially for the internship participants V. V. Tertychka, Doctor of Science (Public Administration), the Head of the Institute for Policy Analysis and Strategy, has conducted a master-class «The Art of Public Policy Generation». The participants of the internship have conducted study-visits to the leading Ukrainian civil society organizations: the Center for Political and Legal Reforms, the International Centre for Policy Studies, All-Ukrainian NGO Coalition for the Rights of the People with Intellectual Disabilities, CCC Creative Center. During these visits they received information about the structure and directions of the activities implemented by the organizations mentioned above and got acquainted with their practical experience of influencing the interpretation of the state administration denotation.

- On April 23-24, 2009 there was a training conducted in Berdyansk, “Representation of Interests and Protection of Rights”;

- On April 4-5, 2009 there was a training conducted in Bakhchisaray, “Public Monitoring and Public Examination of the Authorities' Actions”;

March
- On March 21-22, 2009 there was a training conducted in Kherson, “Public Participation in Decision-making Process by Authorities”;

- On March 10-11, 2009 there was a training conducted in Kyiv, “Public Policy. Decision-making Process by Authorities”;

January
- 14 CSOs were selected on a competitive basis for participation in the training program.

Analysis Report
- On November 28-30, 2008 there was a working meeting for trainers conducted in Kyiv. As a result they worked out training modules: “Public Policy. Decision-making Process by Authorities”, “Public Monitoring and Public Examination of the Authorities' Actions”, “Representation of Interests and Protection of Rights”.
