Democratizing Ukraine Small Projects Scheme
Donor: the UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID)
Timeframe: August 2003 – August 2005
Location: Lviv oblast and Donetsk oblast
Objective: to enhance democratic voice strengthening in the communities of regions selected in order to increase people's influence on power decision-making process, particularly in the field of social services; in the field of partner community links building and relationship with other stakeholders including local authorities and mass media. The Program is conducted via civil society organizations of Lviv and Donetsk oblasts. It is aimed at assistance to deprived and socially vulnerable strata of the Ukrainian society who do not receive necessary services or who are limited in access to possibilities of social and economic needs satisfaction.
The Program was directed to help deprived and socially vulnerable strata of the Ukrainian society who do not receive necessary services and do not have opportunities for their social and economic needs satisfaction, or those who are limited to access to them.
The means to provide this assistance laid in small projects of initiative and efficient communities aimed at the most critical social and economic problems of the region or city.
The Program consisted of two components:
- projects performance by communities;
- consultative, expert and methodological assistance to local projects performers by means of trainings, consultations, and necessary literature publishing in order to help communities in small projects realization.
