Civil Society Development in Ukraine

Activity direction: People with functional constrains, children and youth support and interests defense

Donor: Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe project coordinator in Ukraine, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark

Timeframe: March 2007 – September 2008

Location: Kirovograd oblast, Lviv oblast, Luhansk oblast, Kherson oblast, and Khmelnitskiy oblast.

Grant constituent budget: 1 989 549,43 UAH

Objective: civil society strengthening: democracy development based on law, human rights maintenance, power clarity and accountability.

Priority goals of the course:

  • To represent interests and to maintain rights of people with functional constrains, children, youth and women. To build and to support the network of local CSOs in this field;
  • To enhance self-realization and to develop self-life skills of orphan children and children deprived of parental care; social orphans; homeless children; street children; children and young people with functional constrains;
  • To develop cooperation between local CSOs and local authorities/ local autonomous bodies in maintaining rights of unprotected population, especially people with functional constrains, children, youth and women;
  • To attract unprotected population, especially youth and people with functional constrains, to participation in local territory community affairs management;
  • To support legal education initiatives; to represent and to defend children, youth and disabled people interests in rural area;;
  • To support initiatives, which cultivate skills of rights maintenance and interests representation by unprotected population;
  • To support initiatives of public institutions adaptation to the needs of people with functional constrains;
  • To provide organization strengthening of those civil society organizations that maintain rights of children, youth and people with functional constrains.
